Personal: Born and raised in La Grange, Texas, Laura M. Baker is a native Texan who moved to North Carolina in 2004 to attend law school.
Education
Laura is member of the 2002 graduating class of Emory University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Sociology. Laura attended law school at Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and graduated in 2007. While in law school, Laura quickly took a leadership role, by being elected as a student representative in the Student Bar Association, a Justice on the Honor Court, and Dean ("president") of the Delta Theta Phi Chapter at Campbell. In addition to excelling in leadership, Laura also displayed early promise as a litigator while in law school. Laura, was invited in her second year of law school to be a member of one of Campbell's mock trial teams, an honor typically reserved exclusively for third year law students. Upon graduation, Laura was inducted into the prestigious Order of Barristers for her service to her alma mater and her having displayed excellence in the art of trial advocacy. While in law school Laura also was asked to join one of Campbell's moot court teams and represented the school at the regional competition. Laura was also an active member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity as well as being Dean for 2 years.
Professional
Prior to pursuing a career in law and after finishing her undergraduate degree, Laura obtained her paralegal certificate from the University of North Texas and worked for 1 year as a legal project assistant at Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP in Austin, Texas. After law school graduation, Laura worked in a firm setting until creating her own firm in 2018.

Laura is member/licensee of the North Carolina State Bar and Judicial District 19A Bar. She is also an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Advocates for Justice (formerly North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers) and American Association for Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association).
Community
Laura has held positions on the Board of Directors for the Cabarrus Partnership for Children and is currently a board member for the Academic Learning Center. The Baker family also are proud members of St. James Lutheran Church in Concord, North Carolina.
Family
Luke and Laura met in law school, where they were members of the same law fraternity (Delta Theta Phi) and were partners on the same mock trial team. The Bakers married in November of 2008 and have two children: Garrett and Audrey.
